About Feldenkrais
The Feldenkrais Method® was developed by Dr Moshe Feldenkrais as a result of his attempts to regain normal function following a debilitating knee injury.
He used his knowledge of engineering and his expertise in the martial art of Judo to teach himself to walk effectively again, and in the process developed his system for using the neuroplasticity of the central nervous system to improve function.
Feldenkrais isn't about stretching or strengthening. It's about harnessing the brain's ability to recognise small differences to improve control of movement, which can then result in improvements to flexibility and efficiency of movement.
There are two ways you can experience the Feldenkrais Method®:
- Individual Lessons, called Functional Integration® (FI)
- Group Classes, called Awareness Through Movement® (ATM)
